Today, I would like to talk about knit t-shirts that are crafted through direct weaving of thin fabrics.
1. Types of Knit T-shirts Knit t-shirts come in various types. In terms of manufacturing, they are divided into the "Cut and Sew" method, using pre-woven fabrics, and the "Full-fashioned" method, where the garment patterns are woven directly on knitting machines. The method of cutting pre-woven fabric is widely known in our daily lives, offering many affordable and simple options for summer. From low-cost basics to designs with embroidery, printing, and washing, the variety is vast. However, because the fabric is mass-produced, there are limits to customizing fabric thickness and texture. In contrast, knit t-shirts produced directly on knitting machines allow for customization of the fabric’s texture, thickness, and weaving method. While they offer a more sophisticated and special texture compared to cut-and-sew products, they are generally more expensive.

2. Customized Direct-Woven Knit T-shirts Since summer t-shirts are often worn for practical purposes at affordable prices, most customized summer t-shirts are either printed or feature washing effects. However, for those seeking a more sophisticated silhouette, designs that involve direct weaving are preferred. These designs use fine 40s or 60s yarns to create thin, soft, and elastic t-shirts. For materials, 100% cotton is primarily used due to its excellent sweat absorption properties, perfect for summer.

3. Characteristics of Machine-Woven Products The main feature of products made on knitting machines is that all panels of the t-shirt are woven directly by the machine. Unlike cut fabrics, the joints are joined through "Linking" (assembly sewing) that matches the knit gauge. This allows for precise control over the fit, especially in the necklines and cuffs, which is a unique advantage of direct knitting. From thin cardigans to t-shirts and knit shirts, this process adds a level of luxury to the product. Available yarns include natural fibers such as 100% cotton, wool, cashmere, and tencel to meet diverse customer needs.

4. Ideal Needle Gauge for Summer Knit Customization For summer knits, high gauges are preferred for a dense yet thin texture. Currently, 12G, 14G, 16G, and 18G are widely used. Using 60s yarn with a high gauge creates a very soft touch and a sophisticated fit. For high-end knit t-shirts that emphasize fit and luxury, we highly recommend production using 16-gauge with 60s yarn.
